Lovely raffia hat handwoven in madagascar using traditional weaving methods and natural dyes. The craftswomen who create them are paid a sustainable income for their beautiful handiwork. Raffia is a sustainably harvested plant fibre from the native madagascan raffia tree. The palm has a short trunk and leaves that grow up to 18 metres long. Once treated the fibre is soft, pliable, strong and biodegradable making it perfect for creating hats. A wonderful hat with a cross plaited design and 7 cm brim for great sun protection. The hat is adjustable and has a soft cotton fabric headband for extra comfort.
